A Premature Farewell
I am writing this significantly after the fact, but at the time of my Sacrament Meeting talk, my departure for a mission was imminent and all of my children were still in the area.
Sunday, the 1st of January was scheduled for the Farewell Talk. We put out the word and all of our children, their children, and many family and friends came for the service and the luncheon Beth had prepared for afterward. Some special friends from Newport Ward days, the Noels, were there, but couldn't stay for dinner.
Beth had prepared a wonderful feast and absolutely beautiful desserts. Family and friends had a good time talking and the children played. At one point some of the grandchildren tried making a "people pile" as our children did a generation earlier.
